12c problems with display
Hello everyone. I don't know if there is such a topic on the forum, I could not find a solution to my problem. My 12C doesn't fully show the 5th and 7th digits. I rebooted it, changed the batteries, turned it off for a day and nothing helped. It's new, I bought it in a sealed box. How to solve this problem? Help me please!

Demand a full refund as this unit is defective. You will be much happier buying an old 12C (made in USA or Brazil are best, Singapore not too bad) on eBay or from a local auction site. The old units are not as fast as the new production units, but feel better and will almost certainly outlive a new production unit from China. --Bob Prosperi |

RE: 12c problems with display
Thanks for the answer. But I cannot return it, as I bought it in another country.

RE: 12c problems with display
I'm not aware of any way to restore the digits in the display of your device; even some brand-new units from China seem to have these problems, most likely due to poor build and QA problems.
It's too bad you can't get a refund... But the good news is you can find used ones really cheap, here's one that costs < $17 with shipping included. https://www.ebay.com/itm/VINTAGE-Hewlett...3993813260 It's not perfect, but for probably $5 more you can get one that's close. Typically, more than 10 12Cs are listed on eBay every day, so there are always plenty to choose from. --Bob Prosperi |

RE: 12c problems with display
Keep this defective one just in case it can be use as a spare parts.
I'm personally like the HP-12C Platinum (made in Philippines) and the HP-12C (made in Singapore) both of this calculators work flawlessly to me. Gamo |

RE: 12c problems with display
Hello everyone! I solved my problem. I opened the calculator and inside with a soldering iron I warmed up the loop that connects the screen. You can see it in the photo. Warmed up through a piece of paper. The numbers all appeared. Hopefully someone can help this way to repair his calculator.

Apologies for reviving an old thread, but... this worked for me! My display only had a few segments working but, after about 30 minutes off and on with the soldering iron, they've all been reactivated. |
