Hello,

New versions should be appearing on the FTP sometime shortly. The "check for update" functionatlity in any current connectivity kit or emulator will prompt you when it finds the update. If you happened to be in the "public beta", it will prompt you for a download to the release version as well. If your network blocks direct connection, the direct link can be found at "ftp.hp.com/pub/calculators/Prime/".

The connectivity kit and emulator are now supported on both windows and mac. The iOS/Android/Winstore versions will be downloaded through your normal phone update mechanism as they are approved by the various stores.

This release is focused around getting macOS support, and all the store applications synchronized. There were some changes in the Core calculator code, but mostly this will be identical to the last release.

Note - There is no hardware calculator firmware release this round. This is expected.

Note that you will most likely lose data during the HP Prime app installation on iOS/Android/Winstore devices. Unfortunately, the data on those earlier app versions was not compatible with other OS and application versions. All files created and produced on any version of HP Prime are now compatible to support sharing with any device.

This document is not a complete list of all changes, but highlights specific items.

New Functionality (Virtual Calculator)
---------------------------------------
1. Working directory is now stored in <Documents>/HP Prime. On windows, old files located in %APPDATA%/HP_Prime will be moved over on first run.
2. International keyboards now fully supported.
a. Shortcuts like CTRL-C, CTRL-V won't leave the virtual calculator in "Shift" lock mode anymore.
3. "Connect To" menu has been removed. Any connected device will now receive communication instead of requiring unique selection first.
4. Updates now handled through HTTP only. Should be more reliable for those with network restrictions.
a. Documentation files for non-english will be downloaded on demand. This reduces overall file size on installation.
5. Able to communicate across an IP network to other systems on the same subnet.
6. App versions (iOS,Android,Winstore) - Synchronized with the "Prime Core". Updates and versions should no longer be out of sync moving forward.

1. Able to communicate across an IP network to other HP Prime apps on the same subnet.
a. To connect apps, either tap the top right corner screen of your simulated Prime and tap the "wireless" icon, or go to page 4 of your HOME SETTINGS. Pick the detected network name.

a. Documentation files for non-english will be downloaded on demand. This reduces overall file size on installation.

1. A simulated off now runs when you do a shift-OFF in apps. (exclusively on shift-off and no other times)



Resolved issues and changes excluding CAS
-----------------------------------------
1. Resolved display issue when using split-stem in Stem and Leaf stat plot and consecutive empty stems fell.
2. Resolved issue where really old calculator firmwares (>2.5yrs) didn't do anything in connkit. Now they will be put into "update" mode in the windows version.
Resolved issues and changes in CAS
3. Resolved issue with √(1_(MN/m^2)*1_(MPa)) in home generating an error but not 1e6_Pa (or kg/ms²)
4. Resolved issue with , and . setting when returning a fully qualified name from the toolbox.
5. Resolved issue with nested lists in EQ command - EQ({1,2,3},{1,2,{1,1}}
6. Resolved issue with RETURN command in IF THEN sequence in a user program.
7. Resolved issue with SORT and numbers 0<n<1.
8. Resolved issue with transparency and text when drawing.

I get "404 Not found" for both CK and Emulator. Or is it my system?

No, it is the FTP. Files are not appearing "smoothly" at the moment. Some even deleted the prior ones. I might even just remove the links for the moment until I'm certain the files are there.

Why is memory increased to 25 ~ 27MB?
It used to be around 5 ~ 7MB.

Hello,

Depending on the system that you are running, the function returning the used memory will not always report the same thing.

On the HW calculator, it reports the "Free RAM".
On computers, it reports, depending on the OS, either the Heap used, or the heap + program size, heap + program + shared libraries...

So this can lead to a high variability between OS.

As a brand new member and computer illiterate, what is ftp and where do I find it? As a MAC user, without access to the connectivity kit and emulator for the Prime, where do I go to download the new connectivity kit and emulator designed for us MAC users.

This is why we are moving away from using FTP in the new version. There are built in limits that cause problems for some people when using FTP transactions. Please click the direct link in my original post.

You will need to wait until the original post gets updated with links to click. Right now, the files have been submitted and are in limbo somewhere in the internal file posting software on the HP side.

Hopefully, that will be resolved some time today, but may take a few days. It is unfortunately impossible to know with this type of thing.

Please, Tim, can you be more specific? I use ftp on daily basis (with total commander) and never encountered any problem even with huge files (~GB).

Many people have had problems using the old auto-update method. The HP FTP server has a two minute connection timeout, and some other strange things they've done. The problems I refer to are in the HP FTP server config and/or the auto-updater.

Because of this and the fact that FTP is blocked in many school networks, this latest version and all moving forward will exclusively use a direct HTTP connection. That should be much more reliable and less likely to be blocked.

As quoted in the note, there is no plan to release a firmware at this time.
