RE: New Version: 2017 07 10 (12066)
Don't get too excited.
Basically, that just brings the firmware up to date with the current live app versions. I think there were only 4-5 minor changes on the core calculator code between the firmware and the apps. We took the release revision all the apps are currently on, added in the item discussed next, and validated the firmware. The thing that really drove this firmware release was to get the software version displayed in the exam mode start page for proctors to be able to more easily identify the student is up to date. Honestly, unless you really want those minor fixes mentioned in the release note file I'd just wait till the next release. (Unless you are a student in a place using the exam mode of course) If you are wondering why the revision numbers are so different, that is just the way code revision systems work. TW Although I work for HP, the views and opinions I post here are my own. |

Thank you very much, Tim.

There's been a problem with the release notes file coming with 12066. It's clearly not up to date, and even less up to date than the one coming with 10637 11 months ago : Quote:HP Prime – Release Notes http://ftp.ftp.hp.com/pub/calculators/Pr...170710.zip |

RE: New Version: 2017 07 10 (12066)
HP Connectivity Kit downloaded the new firmware automatically and I am updating the Virtual Calculator with this new firmware.
Since this update was a minor update, I believe this fact didn't release a new version of HP Prime Virtual Calculator. |

RE: New Version: 2017 07 10 (12066)
So I am currently on holiday (back early next week) and hence wasn't directly involved in the release process this time. The notes to go in the zip I left looked something like this:
Quote:This release of the calculator software brings the HP Prime firmware to the same level as the iOS, Android, macOS, Windows and Windows Store applications. There were no files uploaded except the firmware zip - No emulators/apps/connkit. TW Although I work for HP, the views and opinions I post here are my own. |

RE: New Version: 2017 07 10 (12066)
Hi All,
When I try to update the update starts but never finishes. It just sits at the "Updating HP Prime..." screen. I have tried multiple times and have also tried every reset combination but it never goes past this point. Any ideas? Thanks! |

RE: New Version: 2017 07 10 (12066)
OK, I think I know what is happening. Is seems that when I click update, the update starts but then at some arbitrary point of the update the calculator looses connection to the computer. I've tried on windows 10 and 7.
Any ideas? |

RE: New Version: 2017 07 10 (12066)
This "Updating HP Prime" screen you describe. Does it say "Recovery mode" at the top?
We've gotten some indications that the latest Windows 10 update on some systems causes the calculator in the older "Recovery mode" update method to sometimes take 6-7 minutes for windows to detect the USB device. After that, it proceeds normally. The newer update method that sends some files across separately, and then reboots to update should not have that method. Could you describe more precisely how you trigger your update? What version you have currently on your device? TW Although I work for HP, the views and opinions I post here are my own. |

RE: New Version: 2017 07 10 (12066)
Thanks everyone for the help.
It looks like the problem was the USB cable. Once I switched out the update ran without a hitch. Weird part was that everything worked fine except the update. |

However the 'old' method worked fine after the 6-7 minutes "Windows grace period" ;-) You're ready for the next update then. There was a brief window with some newer units from the factory (a version of the software that was unreleased for a download update) where they could support the new update method, but occasionally had problems on the "reboot and perform the update" part. That was corrected in the OS code version from end of last year. Try the next time on the next update, and it should perform smoothly for you.
