Alternative case for the HP-71B
Does anyone know an alternative case for the HP-71B that is available at a reasonable price? So far, I haven't found a case that is large enough, so that it fits in completely. And the prices at which the case is offered on ebay are a bad joke...

Regards
Bernd

On the cheap side you may try this one. With published fitting dimensions for devices less than 7.7”*4”*1.1” it should match quite well with the HP-71B.

Hi Didier,
Thanks for your reply. I'm afraid the case is too small. I already own a similar case from Dynatech which is even a little bit larger. The calculator doesn't completely fit into the case.

Bernd

It's a little big, but for good protection I use:

Hi Bernd,

I purchased one of these cases for 5.41€ shipping included. It took 15 days to be delivered to France.
It’s tight but the HP-71B fits completely inside as the material can stretch a bit.
It fits best when you enter the front of the HP-71B first and close the zip on the back as shown in the pictures below:

If you do the reverse, entering first the back of the 71B in the case and closing the zip on the front, it’s tighter and the corners on the front are less protected as you can see on the middle picture below:

Overall it’s a cheap solution for those missing the original HP-71B case and wanting some level of protection.

RE: Alternative case for the HP-71B
Did anyone "back in the day" notice like I did that the 71B was almost exactly the same dimensions as a VHS tape? I once took a VHS tape box, cut out the plastic posts and the machine fit inside fairly nicely.

Just sayin'....

Jake

Hello Didier,
Thanks for the photographs. That one looks good, too!
I have bought a case with similar dimensions from Dynatech but it doesn't fit well. Therefore I decided to buy the case proposed by cdmckay. It isn't a closed fit like yours but it works well.

Bernd
