RE: New firmware for G2 20211126
Something's probably wrong with the file or the server where the Connectivity Kit downloads it from (which is probably not the FTP server), and the Kit errors out.
If you download the update from the FTP site, ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/calculators/Prime/, and then extract the HPPrime_OS.img file to "HP Connectivity Kit/Firmware/PrimeG2" (or "/PrimeG1" for a G1, I suppose). The Connectivity Kit will find the file and ask if you want to update. Of course, that might not be the brightest idea...there is no release info for 20211126 as far as I can tell. Maybe a Royal/Moravia employee's got some info? |

Thanks for the heads-up! I had a question about using Cartesian coordinates with Python and the help file answered my questions.

RE: New firmware for G2 20211126
Opening the Connectivity Kit this morning I saw the message about an update being available. Downloading the firmware files for G1 and G2, I also saw the message about "Could not read 1464 bytes from compressed file".
I updated a G1 calculator first. I was disappointed to discover that the WAIT(-1) bug on G1 calculators is still present, this is a serious bug that I have demonstrated here in the past. Also noticed that after updating a G1 calculator, re-connecting to Connectivity kit again prompts for update. Essentially every time you connect the calculator there will be the update dialog popping up. Whatever test is being done to determine whether a newer version is available in the firmware folders, it fails. On a G2 calculator running the 2021 05 05 firmware, there was no prompt to update and in fact when selecting the "Update firmware" option from the right-click menu results in a message that there is no update available. Checking further into it, there are no firmware files in the PrimeG2 folder. This is evidently the corrupted file that was not decompressed, ie the 1464 bytes. To state the obvious, this is not a good look and a little bit of testing would have discovered these update problems for both G1 and G2. This 'update' IMHO should be removed until the obvious problems are corrected. |

Mine is empty. apparently cleaned when the new one started to install but then failed extracting, so there's no clue which files are/are not needed. I presume all the odd svn folders are not needed, but am not sure about the .xml file, etc. --Bob Prosperi |

Here's a list of what's in the ZIP file. You need to copy HPPrime_OS.img and version_-1-2 file to the CK download directory. Tom L Cui bono? |

The name of the version file is incorrect. Should probably be named "version_20211126"

I have trouble accessing the ftp site. I only found the October update
at "hpcalc.org". Will the updated file(s) be available at "hpcalc.org"? Thanks |

Also, HP's FTP site doesn't work if you try to connect with common FTP software like Filezilla. I was only able to connect and download by using the Linux command line ftp program. Connect to ftp dot hp dot com on port 21 with anonymous as the username and your email address as the password, run pass to switch to passive mode, cd to /pub/calculators/Prime, run binary to switch to binary mode, and run get with the filename of the desired file (run ls for a directory listing). I will probably add it to my site soon, but I am a bit miffed that the new developers never sent it to me (or even contacted me about it) like Cyrille/Tim used to. With the problems some above have had I am not sure if I should even post it yet anyway, in case there are issues that should be resolved before a general release. |

Thanks Tom, I suspected as much but wasn't sure. Also, note that in the ...Documents\HP Connectivity Kit\Firmware\PrimeG1 folder, populated by the automatic download process (which was OK for G1 and failed for G2), both of these files are present, with a date-stamp of the install time: version_-1-2 : 3 bytes, <SP> <CR> <LF> or 0x20, 0x0D, 0x0A version_20211126 : 0 bytes along with the other G1 update files. Truth is, I think I'll wait for HP to fix the G2 package. With no release notes, and the ugly bumps of this release so far, I'll let other more intrepid folks with time on their hands do the serious spelunking needed here. Thanks! --Bob Prosperi |

Please remove the http:, I forgot to do a Preview. With Windows10 this worked in explorer, also with Filezilla. I tested both. But it is indeed astonishing, that the version file has a wrong name, and a descriptive mail is missing here, very uncommon. If one of the new companies around HP is involved, then that would be awkward. |
