Card reader gummy wheels
Hi all.
Given the fact that they wear out and decay along with becoming melted and sticky, was there a durable and longer lasting resource, perhaps metals, that could be used to design the wheels instead? Yeah, using metallic alternatives has its own drawbacks such as oxidation. |

Hello!

Since many many many years sticky gummy wheels are being replaced with common off-the-shelf O-rings usually made of poybutadiene. They will probably outlast every other component of the calculator (and it's owner) while costing only a few cents (either Euro or Dollar) a piece. Replacing the gummy wheels with metal is probably not a good idea because this will put a lot of wear on the cards, which, as you write in another thread, are on very short supply. Regards Max |
