Is the price justified? Perhaps it is. CALCUSEUM lists a 10/10 collector value.

eBay Germany has completely removed the fees for private sales a short while ago. So you can keep buying your own stuff as often as you want without having to pay anything. He's probably going to repeat this game until he is happy with the result.

When you consider the effort that went into making this calculator then, I think, this price is justified. Actually, this will spur makers to start trying to design their own calculator with what they(we) have to hand like the 6502,Z80,AVR,PIC and 8051.There's nothing wrong with old electronic technology, it is perfectly usable today(hp15c ce). In fact, the latest electronic technology software support tools are generally out of our price range, e,g., ARM uC's compilers.
Well, I have been trying to design my own calculator using the 8051 and I can't seem to get the bcd floating point to work but I keep trying, I'm coding in assembler.

There is plenty of floating point code around for the 8080 and others if you want to check those for inspiration. -J

Just to clarify, while the HP-15C CE is functionally the same (same ROM and appearance) as the original HP-15C, the hardware inside the HP-15C CE is not "old electronic technology" and is 100-150 times faster than the original HP-15C.

Quite correct, but to tell you the truth, I'd prefer to have the original hardware any day.
