RE: "Hewlett Packard" not on the front of HP12c Platinum
HP no longer owns the name Hewlett-Packard; Hewlett Packard Enterprise owns it. So HP can no longer use that name on their products.

RE: "Hewlett Packard" not on the front of HP12c Platinum
I have a Phillipines production 12C Platinum that does have the Hewlett Packard logo with S/N PHA92004WC.
Just so happens there is a listing on TAS (Item# 394640913756), that also does not have the Hewlett Packard logo, but unfortunately the S/N sticker is missing... |

Thanks, that puts mfg. in early 2022, after coming under Moravia's management, so it's not surprising. I've no idea why a 2019 made unit has the text removed. As the 12CP has changed very little (maybe pkg only?) since the initial change to 2 x CR2032, I don't pay much attention to it and easily could have missed this. Perhaps HP itself discontinued that label on the front when they transferred mfg to Philippines, before the mgmt. transfer to the licensees? --Bob Prosperi |

RE: "Hewlett Packard" not on the front of HP12c Platinum
I noticed the HP-12C Platinum is currently selling for about $37 USD new on Amazon. That’s as low as I’ve ever seen it priced.

Interesting with the ZIP code for Böblingen, 71025 - that is the German HP HQ location.. How does that get onto the box from Amazon in US and a device from Philippines. |

RE: "Hewlett Packard" not on the front of HP12c Platinum
I don't understand why this is so hard to understand.
No, not saying "Hewlett-Packard" on the front won't be rare. That's how all the ones produced since early 2022 are. As I said before, this change was due to HP no longer having the right to the Hewlett-Packard name, which were actually lost some years ago, but HP had an agreement to allow it to remain on the 12c until things could get changed, which was a bit over a year ago. Recent Australian regulations require a screw on the battery door. I don't know when this took effect, but we started seeing the updated calculators with a screwy battery door last year also. I had previously assumed it was at the same time as the faceplate change, but apparently that wasn't the case for the 12c Platinum, because in this thread there's a report of a Platinum that has had the Hewlett-Packard text removed but the screw hasn't yet been added. |
