HP-22 1706A12167 in search of advice
Hi everyone !!

We can't remember if we stored away it like this, or it's happening now
The 6th (for left to right) digit is missing the upper segment
Could it be a bad wiring in the display ?

We may try later to use a different display, but any advice is welcome

Thanks in advance !

I don't think there is anything else you can do. The display segments are wired with the tiniest golden bonding wires just like semiconductor chips. There is not much a normal hobbyist can do to repair them. Apart from the wiring it could also be a defective LED of course in which case you can do even less.

Of my twenty (or so) working calculators of the Woodstock series at least five have a defective LED segment. Learn to ignore it or look at the calculator without your reading glasses on and you won't even notice ;-) Calculators age just the same way as we do...

Regards
Max

Woodstock and later Spice machines did not have fully encapsulated LEDs. Meaning High G forces could loosen the wires. Oxidation on non gold components, etc. Replacement LED strips are sometimes avail on the the auction site. Plug in replacement for Woodstocks.
