RE: Warning Level.
Basically it means that you haven't posted anything offensive. Which, surprisingly, does happen.
Notice that the Forum is comprised of several categories. In the future questions like this are more appropriately posted in the Forum Issues and Administration sub-forum and programs belong in the HP Software Libraries. You'll find that you'll usually get a better response to you posts if they are posted in the appropriate forum. |

(01-18-2015 05:43 PM)ggauny@live.fr Wrote: Hi Gérard; Everyone starts at 0% warning level. Almost everyone stays there. Sometimes even valued members get warned and usually it's just that; a personal message to someone reminding them that this is a friendly site and all of us near-Asperger syndrome math nerds need to stick together. For repeat offenders it's a formal "warning" and gets a number usually in multiples of 20%. They disappear in a while. Only 40% and up matter anyway. That you are at or under 20% means that you aren't a whining, petulant, arrogant, loud mouthed, nagging, insulting, know-it-all. Cool. Welcome. BTW: as stated by another member; putting questions in the most closely matching sub-forum does get you better answers. That's because this place has gotten so big that we all read only what interests us. If you ever want to have a thread you started moved to a different area, ask a moderator. We'll do it and the system leaves a re-direct for a couple of days so early readers can still find it. -db |

Last weekend I had to report an offensive post after trying to help a member and they suggested that I could "<slang term for fellatio> them anytime". A moderator edited the post and it was eventually deleted. The question is, did that member get a warning level increase??? Dave |

No biggie. It's language, he thinks in French. We both talk Califorñano. About your other point; I didn't do a formal warning of that guy. Katie clearly and justifiably didn't like his post but I got to it first. I chose to edit out the porno. He then took the hint and erased the whole thing. Next time there is no pass for that, and there probably will be a next time. Stuff falls out of his mouth. I'm going to move this thread to Issues and Administration like you had suggested to the OP, because of the majority of it's subjects. It kind of took on a life of it's own. |

RE: Warning Level.
I just took a peek at the warning log:
It's been 3 months since anyone has received a warning. 5 people have received at least one warning since the creation of the forum. 1 person has received more than one warning since the creation of the forum. 1 person has received a warning for grammar and punctuation, but that was just a test user account and a test warning. Warning levels do expire after a while and it looks like all those people are back to a warning level of 0. Not bad for 24K posts from 1959 users. Of course this doesn't include spammers who we clobber without warning. |

(01-19-2015 08:35 PM)walter b Wrote: Obviously as little as bad responding. There was a recent post by Jose Mesquita (jebem) where he responded to three previous posts at once: One was from Katie, one from you and one from me. To me this is an good example for using the button. The threaded mode can't display this correctly as this is not a tree (graph theory). Thus you would have forced Jose to favor one of us using the button. Cheers Thomas |
