Any wearers of HP-01s or other interesting digital watches?

i have several LEDs (Pulsar, Omega) but no HP-01s.

Same here. As a matter of fact, I have a small collection of (mostly inexpensive) watches, but as I don't like to wear watches at all, I almost never wear one, not even at work. Somewhat crazy...

01s are cool but you are right, just too big. My LEDs are smaller. Use one in movie theatres, easy to read in the dark.

I've seen 01s go for thousands on ebay.

With some patience, you still can find one for hundreds instead of thousands. Only recently, a fairly good one went at eBay Germany for something like 350 Euros.

I wear the first digital watch, Pulsar, acquired in 1973 and still running after 42 years (although not on the same set of batteries, it's not an HP after all). Still, it is retro-cool and draws frequent comments.

Yes I bought one like that used in 2002. I wanted one like the one featured on that 1974 (?) episode of "Columbo" where the bad guy uses his new watch that "prints the time" as he put it to create an alibi for himself.

Earlier this year I was going through some old boxes trying to do a general cleanup and ran across my old Seiko C153-5007 calculator watch. I haven't seen it in over 20 years. It has a LCD display and requires a stylus to operate the small calculator keys. I put a new battery in it and it started right up and works great. This was Seiko's first calculator watch in 1978.

I now proudly wear this watch every day.

While it's not the same as the HP-01, Pulsar or Omega, it looks good to me and I'm not afraid to use it as a daily watch.

I'm waiting to see how long it will take for the WP34S app to get ported over to the new Apple iWatch....

One suspects the face won't be big enough to handle all the functions.... but a (relatively) simple RPN calculator app wouldn't be a bad thing!

Idea: Move your arm up and down to review the stack. The imagination goes wild thinking of other arm motions for various stack operations... and math functions...

That would be rough if the stack was very deep. I imagine my arms would not be long enough to see stack level 100. :-)

Shake your arm for x<>y

Rotate your wrist will roll the stack. One way for up, the other for down

It's also worth noting that the Apple Watch won't run applications locally on the watch, it'll just display UI on the watch, and run the code on the phone.

A 4-banger 4-level RPN machine on a touchscreen watch would be quite handy, though. (I thought about how to do UI for a 4-banger RPN calc on Pebble, and ultimately decided against it, though, because of the lack of a touchscreen. Slide rule could be interesting, though - launch it, and you have control of the C scale with the arrow keys, line it up with the D scale, then hit enter to switch to moving the cursor, and back to move back to the C scale (and back again to exit). And, an advanced mode could give more than just the basic C and D scales.)
