Bug in PM count?

I got my first PM today and sent a reply. Then I noticed that underneath the (User CP -- Log out) text and to the right of Private Messages was the following:

(Unread 0, Total 2)

Even after deleting my "reply" the count still shows 2, even though I had only ever received 1 up to this point.
