Again, Thank you all for the so many suggestions on what we can do with this great machine.
The Clonix NoV sounds very interesting, but I have yet to see how much will it cost as I couldn't find any prices on Diego's site.

Did I mention that the buzzer can make very nice clean sounds?
I wonder why the newest HP Prime was not equipped with similar feature, despite having provision to connect one buzzer on the main PCA.

And time to a partial tear down.
When removing the four rubber feet to undo the four screws, I could confirm its original condition.
The machine was never opened before.

Somehow this half nut version is a little disappointing at the component count.
I guess the ownership satisfaction will be greater on the full nuts

And it's possible to have it both ways, share a battery pack among the devices, and with the $$$ savings, buy spare battery packs !!!!

Before spending money on lots of accessories, consider whether you a re looking for the functionality or a collector's item. If it's the functionality, then an HP-IL interface and PIL-Box offer access to virtual printers, displays, mass storage devices, and the huge collection of software in the LIF archives.

82104A Card Reader repair

It was a smooth procedure and it worked nicely after replacing the gummy drive wheel.

Basically I have followed the HP Service Manual included in the MoHPC USB documentation.

And I had a look on some publications freely available online as well (Thank you all):

Following are some pictures taken during the repair operation.







New rubber wheels were installed. Perfect match and excellent drive.



Final testing.
Before assembling the case enclosure (Not shown in the above pictures):
- Have checked the two switches for proper operation;
- Have adjusted the drive wheel pressure by measuring the motor current;
- Tested for good magnetic card write/read operation.
