Screen dust questions
I’m pretty sure this has been asked before, BUT....
Does someone have an explanation as to how dust gets underneath the sealed screen of an HP41? That’s beyond me, really... Wouldn’t it be easier to remove the plastic screen rather than de-soldering the LCD to clean it up. (Fullnuts) Has anyone tried? RE: Screen dust questions
-Access through battery compartment, module compartment, charge cord port. Static charge on plastic screen from vinyl case and synthetic fur causing a dust attractive charge. Speculation of course.
-Removal of plastic screen an emphatic NO. Adhesive used bonds screen to shell, risk cracking. Heat does not help. -Disassemble shells to gain access to screen from PCA side. Can of air and blow. Blow from a distance as some canned air may leave a condensate on inside of screen. If still a problem and OCD is a disorder then removal by de-soldering the LCD panel and then physically clean. Will not work on half nut as screen is integral to the PCA.. Geoff |
