I may attempt this kooky IR adapter. (Hopefully that project won't induce grief....)(06-20-2017 03:35 PM)Dave Britten Wrote: Dang, that's tempting. I'm not seeing RS-232 in the listing, though. Would be nice to have...Even cheaper: It will take a month for the parts to come off the slow boat from China. I might be able to do the software on a different board I have on-hand. I'll probably post the results on my hackaday.io.... OK, I did create a project page, if anyone has any curiousity https://hackaday.io/project/25616 . Parts will still take about a month, so it would probably be end-of-July-ish before it's truly done (if it works, but I'm pretty sure it will). I expect the parts to total about USD$30, and obviously it will be very homemade looking (i.e., I'm not going to bother with making a case for it), but someone else might find it fun to put together themselves. (No I'm not going into the printer biz). RE: Who wants a new printing HP-42s? - Luigi Vampa - 06-27-2017 02:44 PM Even cheaper... Portable USB+BT Printer only $24.99 @TAS RE: Who wants a new printing HP-42s? - ziggurat29 - 07-19-2017 06:12 PM FWIW, the printer cores came in from China last week, and I did manage to get the IR-to-receipt-printer adapter working and printing from my 28C. (Pictures and prose on the project link https://hackaday.io/project/25616, for the curious). As mentioned, I am not going into the printer business; this was a side project for amusement. I do notice the Original Poster had considered doing some kickstarter or something. If he wants to do that and has any use for the code etc. I built here, he's welcome to it. In the end, the IR part was more straightforward than I expected, and the printer was more... obstreperous.
