Who is that handsome winner with an orange colored shirt?

Ha! I played with that 34E for a year and then "re-gifted" it to the prize table. I believe Eddie Shore is the current owner.

I had a 29C in the early part of high school. When the 34C came out, I didn't think it was worth the upgrade, especially since it was physically larger. I'm glad I waited because when the 41C came out I pounced. I remember to this day riding the bus from Lawrenceville, NJ to Princeton with a classmate who described the 41C to me. This was an order of magnitude better than the 29C.

So many fond memories.

The first version of the conference schedule is now online: http://hhuc.us/2017/schedule.htm

There will be changes made over the next few days, but this should suffice for attendees to make plans, and for non-attendees to get a feel for what the conference will be about.

Joe....is it easy to also post the schedule as a pdf? I'd like to have a printed copy to carry with me at the conference.

For the last few years, the schedule is usually printed at the hotel on Friday, so copies are available once there (and hopefully the schedule has stopped changing...)

See you in Nashville!

Almost guaranteed to be out of date by Friday, but changes probably won't matter enough to care.

I resemble that remark.

Thanks to everyone that planned this, and to those that brought all the neato door prizes (like the Casio fx-9860g Slim and the serial-to-parallel adapter that I went straight for, because I have strange needs). And thanks Don for bringing along all the cool old punch card stuff.

I just wanted to thank the committee for putting together such a great conference. The speakers were fantastic and covered interesting topics. The USB drive is treasure trove of articles, calculator roms, web sites, historical documents, etc., etc., etc. The work that went into compiling, cross-linking and assembling all of this is truly mind boggling.

Thank you to all the new attendees for coming, and the old ones (you know who you are) for coming back. It was great to see people again and welcome new faces.

Also, I wanted to thank everyone who so generously put something on the terrific prize table. There were some really outstanding prizes available, and not just a few. Everyone got at least 3 items, and I don't think anyone went away disappointed.

HHC2017 was an outstanding conference, and I'm glad to have attended. Many people put in a TON of work, and it came out beautifully. Thanks again to everyone who worked so hard to make it a success.

If you didn't go, you missed a great time, and I hope you attend next year.

Brad

That could be a bit difficult, given where I live. Smile I'm in New Zealand. It looked like everyone that posted had a fantastic time. I wonder if anyone's actually pulled off attending both HPCC and HHC in the same year? Now that'd be an expensive time.

A great bunch, many I've had the great pleasure to meet and know! But how come so many of those young guys I knew in the '70s look so old? And how come the picture with my name and postings looks so old too???

RE: HHC 2017: Nashville TN, Sept 16-17 - Giancarlo - 09-20-2017 12:46 PM

A note about the conference from a newbie perspective.

I have been following hp calculators since 1990 and as soon as the internet was spreading i looked at the resources online so, the hp museum became the reference site for me rpl and now hppl.

Three years ago i started attending to the european meeting in Allschwil and this year i decided to go to the source and attended to the hhc2017.

Can't stop saying that this was the best decision. I go home with a lot of thoughts and projects that i did put aside for different reasons.

The hhc is driven by very passionate people and the attendees are the same. The sign of this is that most of the people just don't attend once to the conference coming again and again.
I am italian/french and english is still a barrier for me. However the speech were very clear (the barrier there, were the content :+).

Meeting people that i discussed with for such a long time in the forum has been the experience of this trip. Things will be easier now and i hope i can make it next year and come back.
Meeting people with the same passion was very productive.

A lot of people dedicated huge amount of time in assembling the conference, the documentation, scanning hundreds of magazines, catalog to deliver to the conference for free. Thanks guys!

I won the biggest door prize and, among all the good stuff on the table, i chose the Prime with the new keyboard colours that was very difficult to find and i also got other calculators i was looking for.

Hp attended to this conference and made the difference. Listening the customers is probably one of the things differenciating hp from other calculator manufacturers. Thanks Tim for partecipating.

Thanks for the prizes, thanks for the usb drive, thanks for sharing.

Giancarlo from Italy

Giancarlo,

So glad you to meet you this past week and that you were able to attend. I hope you had a good trip back to Italy.

Next time I have a long layover up there... :-)

I don't expect to see the entire contents of the conference's 32 GB flash drive, but will we see at least the presentations on a webpage near me, like hhuc.us/2017/files, soon?

I also look forward to videos at youtube.com/hpcalc a little later down the road.

Dave

Since the thumb drive was so huge this year, the HHC 2017 Committee has to discuss and decide which files will be put on the HHC 2017 website. In recent years, as you said, the speakers' presentation files were made available online, so this year may be the same. When the Committee reaches a decision, a notice will be posted here and emailed to the HHC mailing list. Thanks for your patience.
