I do it with working Prime, fw 20181016. Should I do it with a non touch working Prime, fw 200116?

Cyrille will no doubt chime in here but logic says that you should indeed do the test with the firmware that is unreliable. If it's an error in the way the firmware detects the hardware then that isn't going to show up with a firmware that works every time!

This number is the "internal HW revision", which correspond to the values of these CPU IO pins described earlier...
My best guess is that the HW detection mechanism is unreliable... Probably due to some delays in the GPIO lines....
Another possibility is that some machines have been badly manufactured with the wrong IO pin selection, but this is a low probability in my opinion...

Checked several times. Code = 3 3.
Sometimes, while still pressing the Symb key, I saw very short code 3 0.
It was soo very short, I thought I saw code 3 0.
Downgraded to latest beta version.
Serial number 9CJ8210437, July 2018 (order date)

My G2 shows code 3, just 3. Also checked several times.
Did the test while in firmware 2018 10 16, I had already rolled back because of the touch issues. Should I try and install the new firmware again to do this?

I sent over to Eric at hpcalc.org a new file, so sometime he will stick that up and hopefully anyone with the issue will have it go away. If not, we'll have to do some more.

After setting Update Mode ([ON] & [Symb]):
With FW 20181016 my Prime shows number 3 in the upper left corner.
With FW 20200116 my Prime shows number 3 and after space number 2 rundomly changes to number 1.
