Maybe TheCalculatorStore offers volume discounts? :-) RE: Springs for HP-41 battery holder - smp - 02-10-2018 07:22 PM (02-10-2018 03:49 PM)Jurgen Keller Wrote: Does anyone know a source for replacement springs for the HP-41 battery holder? Here's a link to TAS: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Spring-for-HP41c-HP41cv-HP41cx-battery-holder/183039323808?hash=item2a9dfe6ea0:g:2~sAAOSw9NBabEo5 EDIT: The price is not too bad, but the shipping is outrageous... smp RE: Springs for HP-41 battery holder - Jose Gonzalez Divasson - 02-11-2018 09:39 AM I am not a TAS expert, so I had the setting by default... I have fixed it now. Combined shipping. José The Calculator Store RE: Springs for HP-41 battery holder - Gerald H - 02-11-2018 09:49 AM € 10 postage & + € 10 for each additional unit in EU doesn't seem reasonable. RE: Springs for HP-41 battery holder - Jose Gonzalez Divasson - 02-11-2018 10:12 AM Fixed. Now is 10€ for any number. Had only fixed the EU price - not overseas. I just placed my order directly via TheCalculatorStore. I needed a few other parts and in the end shipping cost was EUR 8.26. That's very reasonable. RE: Springs for HP-41 battery holder - Sadsilence - 02-11-2018 12:52 PM Another idea I personally use: AA battery holder When disassembled with wire cutter correctly you get 9 (single) springs with natural "tails" for soldering together. That are 4.5 pairs for 99 (euro) cents and of course a little but easy soldering work. Successfully tested with HP-25, HP-19 and HP-41 battery packs. RE: Springs for HP-41 battery holder - Dan Grelinger - 02-13-2018 05:21 PM I received some replacement springs from a 3rd party source several years ago. I was warned that they were stiffer than the original springs. Be aware, the battery contact block is held in place by the top two case screws, which suffer from a screw post design weakness. Using stiffer springs 'may' result in more stress on the screw posts, leading to earlier failure. RE: Springs for HP-41 battery holder - Jurgen Keller - 02-21-2018 06:32 PM In the meantime I received the springs from TheCalculatorStore. In my opinion, these springs are good replacements. The only minor difference I noticed is that they don't look as "shiny" as the original ones. I also ordered the "Lower Post Repair Part" and used it to repair a Halfnut HP-41. Up to now that's the best and probably most sustainable repair method I know of for the front posts. There is a detailed description of the repair process, it's easy and fast. The part is not cheap, however, I think it's worth the money. I very much appreciate Jose's efforts to provide repair parts for the HP-41 calculators. The HP-41 plastic parts get more and more brittle. At some point we will be in need of replacement cases as well (favorite "color" would be transparent) ;-) |
