Exporting private messages - pier4r - 04-02-2018 08:59 AM

Does anyone know if there is the possibility to export private messages in bulk? I have some nice messages with nice info and I would like to save them, as my mailbox is getting full. Doing it one by one is possible, but tedious.

No, it is tedious and very time consuming.
Having a way to redirect one or multiple messages to an email address will be greatly appreciated.
Best regards,
Sylvain

There is a "Download Messages" link on the top command line where the amount of space used speedbar is displayed when you are in your Inbox folder. Clicking the link allows you to specify filters for what mail to save and in what format to save them. I've used the feature to clear some space in my mailbox, mostly the "copy of sent messages" contents. Dumping the messages in html format is pretty handy.

hth!

Hello Mark,
This is great, thank you!
Readers be warned, downloading messages also deletes them at the same time.

Only if the Yes button is checked on the Delete Downloaded Messages option (default No). I double-checked this on a junk folder (just in case!) and the messages were still there with the No button selected.

Have you seen otherwise?

Hello Mark,
Oh well, it happened again, my eye/mind understood "Export Deleted Messages?" while it was written "Delete Exported Messages?" and of course I had selected yes.
Bummer, forget about my above remark. Sad

I will never forget the

"Oh I'd like to backup my mails, let's download them. A copy will stay on the server".
"Ah I downloaded them in the wrong way, delete and download them again".
"wait. Where are my messages?"

I forgot to tick "leave messages on the server". Thousands of messages disappearing.

I won't forget all of my: "I need to backup my mails for future reference".
And now, all those archives, have their bits rusted, since I never opened them again.

well it depends on the mails and not only. Sometimes one posses something (information or objects) and he is happy just to posses it as one knows that "I don't use it, but if I need it, it is there"

I guess collectors, librarians and others knows this.

I have plenty of books (pdf and what not) that are waiting years to be read. I know that they are waiting for me... one day!
