Since I don't necessarily use my calculators every day, this order applies to me:
  1. HP 50g - This is like an old friend to me and therefore always my first choice.
  2. HP Prime - The last generation, but one that also has its advantages.
  3. HP 35s - Probably the best memory of the old days at the moment.

All of them together offer enough computing power and flexibility for me.

My top three calculators, based on past daily usage. In chronological order.

(1) HP 42S - Worked great with the HP 82240B thermal printer. Used it to print stake-out sheets for my instrument man at one company.

(2) HP 48GX - My surveying workhorse. Used TDS, Software by D'Zign, and SMI software.

(3) HP 50g - Used it as my utility calculator. Fun to program!

My top three calculators, based on daily usage. Sorry my last post on this was slightly off-topic.

(1) HP 35s - My daily-use calculator for simple addition/subtraction (lake elevations).

(2) Samsung Calculator (Samsung Android) - I use this when I'm away from my work vehicle.

(3) Emu48 (Android) - I use this when I'm feeling nostalgic. I love this thing!

Not for fun:

1. Privileg LC 814 PR
(In School, when I was 14 years old. We were the first who did not learn using a slide rule. The calculator was programmable with 46 steps. Each click was a step. I learned to do everything in 46 steps).

2. HP-28C
During beginning at university. I learned UPN. And I liked the missing =, so nobody else wanted to use my machine.

3. HP-48G
At the end of my university time. Wonderful machine. Unbreakable.

For fun+work, today:
HP-41CX, HP-71b, HP200LX

I have quite a few HPs and a couple SwissMicros. But if I had to pick one overall ultimate favorite, it’d be the WP 34s. What a brilliant calculator. I have 2. Thanks Walter and Pauli and all the rest.

Guilty and not at all sorry...

Three calculators that impressed me.
I like also others, but I stay with the question :-)

-- HP 11C : my first RPN calculator, my first experience with programming something. so special.
-- HP 28S : good memories with this one at uni. RPL programming and general logic, and a nice double keyboard. (48GX as well, but it started strong with the 28S).
-- free42 app iPhone : light, elegant and fast. Thanks Thomas Okken

For me:
1) HP65: (it's strange no one has mentioned before). What a calculator! Its so elegant! Just hold it in your hand! (I do not understand why the HP67 was filled of instructions in the keyboard overlay).
2) HP15c: original design, power, reliable. A reference.
3)Hp41c: but the very early model with tall keys and metal keyboard overlay.

My selection is not based on capabilities...any of the free mobile apps provides you more power.

Thanks and kind regards

Ignacio

Let's see if I can break this down into three...

Most used: DM42. This gets daily use, particularly because I have a program on here that I use to track some medical/health information throughout the day, at my doctors' request.

Second most used: 200LX. I've got a lot of spreadsheets and databases on here. It doesn't get daily use at the moment, but it's pretty frequent.

Most enamored: HP 65. It's the first ever programmable "pocket" calculator/computer, after all, and I've got a boatload of magnetic cards for it.

And there are of course many, many more that only just barely get bumped out of the top three. 41CX, 42S, 21S, 71B, 97, 15C, various Sharp and Casio pocket computers, a mountain of Casio graphing calculators...

Funny mine are EMU48 to emulate 48GX and 50G. The reason the screen on the real calculator is too low in contrast.

RE: Top three calculators ? - HP-71C - 08-26-2021 09:33 PM

1. HP-29C Bonnie, my first RPN Calculator
2. HP-11C long lasting batteries
3. DM-42 The most accurate calculator

RE: Top three calculators ? - BusyCalc - 08-27-2021 10:55 AM

1) HP-45. As I don't need very complex calculations at work, I use it almost everyday. An there is always someone that gets attracted by its glowing display, hehehe.

2) Android's basic calculator. It has no charm, but it is always in my pocket.

3) HP-65. Inherited from my father several years after his death. After restoring it (gummy wheel, clutch, battery, etc), with it started my adiction to the classic HP calcs. It is like a collector's Rolls Royce, I insert a card once a month to check it continues doing its magic.

2. A chinese novelty "clamshell" type calculator with an electrically eraseable notepad in the lid (https://de.aliexpress.com/item/1005002617981111.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.27424c4dA9TF4c)

My turn now:

1. HP35S. it is my current daily driver.

2. 15C SciCalc. It is an iPhone emulator of the HP15C. I use it when my HP35S is not in reach.

3. Currently no other calculators used. In the past, TI-57 by Texas Instruments (now lost), as back in the day money was a real object.
