HP 50g

but £100 there , I checked earlier, he must be trying to quickly dump some (over)stock at £85

I can't resist a bargain:

........they sure deliver fast too !, I only ordered yesterday !

and a bonus MP3 player included in the pack ! (I seem to remember getting one of these 50g packs a few years ago and already the mp3 player was getting out of date)

Serial number suggests 2009 production, and it is indeed brand new sealed pack

Get 'em while you can , it's still at £85 right now

Is this with the old User’s manual?

How do I tell ?

I'm not opening the sealed pack right now, the book (HP 50g Graphing Calculator User's Manual) has HDP1G49AEN7 MWU on it's rear cover though

Do you know the cut-off date(s) or Version info of old vs. new manual? Or is it just the cover that changed?

I looked at my book, yes, there is HDP1G49AEN7 MWU.
The old one is this

The new one is this

The new is Quick Start Guide.

Ah right , then this has the old manual (with the leatherette style magnetic catch carry case I think I can see)

BUT

I have another 'sealed in a plastic box' 50g with a fairly thin landscape style book(let) and a canvas type material carry case , it does not have the newer manuals as you have shown

Store it horizontally and keyboard up, so when the button cell will leak it doesn't destroy the display PCB. (.. well there is a tinfoil paper between, but still)

Hello,

I have posted in the "for sale" section NEW 50g units for 100$US - shipping included domestic and probably foreign unless it is ridiculous in which case we'll negotiate something. I do have quite a few available.

http://www.hpmuseum.org/forum/thread-10606.html

These are new units, but came from a bulk order of units that was done quite a few years ago. Others are units that I was gifted at various times and never opened or did more then turn on. So almost all are units alone, no wires, books, cases, etc. I might have a small collection of cases I could stick with some if you really, really want one. However, I can guarantee the calcs themselves are new and not used. I'll stick batteries in to make sure they are functional.

Yeah good battery storage advice, don’t worry I take care of these things when storing stuff

The one just bought has the batteries visible in the rear of the packaging (including the CR battery )

Ordered and received a new HP 50G from Oxford Educational this week.

I am curious about the serial number as a date code though.

The packaging is the simple black package with a 2009 copyright.
The serial number is CNA628..xx (two digits, two letters).

Normally that would indicate a 2006 production date, in July.
BUT it also had the latest firmware on it.

So with the packaging and the firmware, was it produced in 2016 for the Europe/UK market?

hpcalc.org sent me a refurbished 50G also, with a CNA701..xx serial number. This one I can accept as a 2007 January production, since it's a known refurbished item.

The new one is definitely from 2016 if it came new/sealed and has f/w version 2.15.

The refurbished unit is almost certainly from 2007 as I don't believe there was any production in 2017; in any case, even if there was, that's likely not enough time for buy/rtn/refurb/2nd buy.

RE: Where to buy *NEW* HP50G ? - cdmackay - 10-19-2018 10:23 PM

Were they still being produced in 2016?

My two are also CNA628, sold as the last stock by Oxford Educational, and I was wondering when they were made.

Both came with v2.15 firmware.

I put the serial numbers into the HP warranty checker, which reported their warranty started 16th July 2016 (which is in week 28), so perhaps they were still in production then?

Wikipedia says the 50g was discontinued in 2015.

RE: Where to buy *NEW* HP50G ? - ctrclckws - 10-19-2018 11:04 PM

Thank you both.

Maybe the new ones were being produced for markets other the the United States, after 2015.

I'll go back to lurking and learning.

Edward

I was uncertain how far into 2016 production continued, but your information shows pretty clearly that these units are indeed from week 28 in 2016. I simply don't believe in coincidences.

It's likely production for US ended in 2015 with lots of units already in distribution sales channels, while production may have continued for European markets where there are probably fewer units in distribution, due to there being many smaller markets.

I'd say you got some of the very last units made.

Hi everyone,
I just bought a new one with serial number cna5050bng. How can I decrypt this number?
Thanks

I just purchased a second in case the first has problems. Suspect the price of these now will always rise.... as old stock runs out.

Doubt when it arrives though I am going to get it with the "hard" case... that I have with my existing one (and which I like very much).

This Calculator is nothing short of incredible.
