Multiplication symbol in textbook display - ijabbott - 07-28-2018 12:00 PM

Why does the Prime use an asterisk for the multiplication symbol in the textbook display? Wouldn't a dot be more conventional? (I think an asterisk is fair enough for the inline, algebraic display.)
