Hex license plate - Joe Horn - 01-24-2019 04:38 AM

Found myself behind this car at a stop light, and snapped this photo just as the light turned green:

We shouldn't drive distracted, but I found myself unable to avoid thinking, "Ok, that's 256 plus 16 plus 6..." Big Grin

In SoCal personalized license plates are like hikaus for your car. My favorite spotted in the '70s was BAD MF, coincidentally on a black Lincoln and driven by a gentlemen of color.

There was also the urologist with the plate IVSKIN.

I can verify that Joe votes in California but doesn't comply with tradition there in that regard...

And then there's this gentleman:

From HP Key Notes, March-May 1982, Page 16:
Quote:"Thought you might like to see my portable office! I am just finishing teaching a graduate course, "Hydrologic Analysis With Programmable Calculators," with Professor Lloyd W. Gay, at the University of Arizona. The course was accepted, like my license plate, with much enthusiasm.

"Being Assistant City Engineer. I could let the little wonders [HP-41 system] evaluate some of the city's turnoff problems. We plan to present the HP-41 programs to practitioners in a 3-day short-course this November."

The letter was signed, "Waiting for my new tape drive, Very truly yours, Dr. Brian M. Reich. "We thank you, Dr.Reich for the photograph and for taking the time to share your thoughts and your truly unique license plate with our readers. KEY NOTES is always interested in hearing about unique applications, situations, or what-have-you.

We might add that Dr. Reich is a Consulting Engineer and Hydrologist who lives in Tucson, Arizona.

Cheers
Thomas

Is that emoticon's revealing smile a coincidence?

Very good, Joe.

When I lived in the Washington DC area for many years and commuted to work each day, I frequently saw this guy on the road. His plate always gave me a smile.

RE: Hex license plate - David Hayden - 01-28-2019 07:38 PM

As I entered the highway one evening on my way home from work, a Porsche convertible zoomed past me, top down, driven by a women who looked to be about 50, her scarf blowing about her as carefree has she was.

The license plate: WAS HIS
