Novus 950 - Harald - 03-18-2019 08:20 PM I just bought a Novus 950. However I can't find a lit of information on the 950. Google mostly comes up with the 650. Is there any difference between the 650 and 950? If not, why the different numbers? Cheers, Harald RE: Novus 950 - Xorand - 03-18-2019 09:41 PM I have a 650, but no other supporting documentation. Is the 950 an 8-digit calculator? RE: Novus 950 - Maximilian Hohmann - 03-18-2019 10:33 PM Hello! Ball&Flamm's book says very little about the 950: "4-funct., red LED, 9V rep. batt., 2.75x5", similar to 650 but fewer were made, USA, value $30-45". (The book is 22 years old so the $ figures can be a little bit off by now.) Regards Max RE: Novus 950 - SlideRule - 03-18-2019 10:39 PM (03-18-2019 08:20 PM)Harald Wrote: I just bought a Novus 950. The reason you can only find the 650 is that it is just about the same as the 950. In fact they use the same manual. This great website (thanks, Katie!) http://www.wass.net/manuals/ has the manual for it. RE: Novus 950 - Harald - 03-19-2019 09:02 PM Thanks to all of you for enlightening me! The calculator hasn't arrived yet, but from the pictures I would say it has 9 digits. Cheers, Harald RE: Novus 950 - Jlouis - 03-20-2019 12:51 AM Congratulations! So beautiful and mint calculator for so cheap! Cheers! JL RE: Novus 950 - Harald - 03-20-2019 08:09 PM (03-20-2019 12:51 AM)Jlouis Wrote: Congratulations! It has arrived today and is in pretty good condition, a good looking calculator. But as much as it looks good, it is still pretty much unusable. Who the ... came up with the idea of placing a decimal point in the display, that has no meaning whatsoever?!? It basically handles integers and nothing else. You have to work out where the real decimal point is by yourself. Nice addition to the collection though. One of my first calculations with any calculator is to calculate the easy pi approximation of 355/113. When I did that on the 650, I got .03. Changing it to 35500/113 at least gives 3.14. |
