How to tell if a Prime is version G1 or G2? - kevin3g - 04-12-2019 04:22 PM Hello, I have a Prime and was wondering which version I have. Is there a way to check this? Thanks RE: How to tell if a Prime is version G1 or G2? - DA74254 - 04-12-2019 04:32 PM The G2 has embossed the "G2" on the back. Under "Help" -> Tree -> About all revisions up to and including "C" is G1. Rev D is G2 RE: How to tell if a Prime is version G1 or G2? - Joe Horn - 04-13-2019 01:13 AM RE: How to tell if a Prime is version G1 or G2? - Joe Horn - 04-13-2019 01:16 AM (04-13-2019 01:13 AM)Joe Horn Wrote: (04-12-2019 04:32 PM)DA74254 Wrote: Under "Help" -> Tree -> About all revisions up to and including "C" is G1. I have a G1. Are the keyboards made differently? There are two hardware declensions of the first generation (G1) Prime. Rev. A and Rev. C (there was no Rev. B that I'm aware of). All of the Rev. A and some of the early Rev. C units had the wishy-washy, barely visible colour scheme. Later Rev. C and all Rev. D (G2) Primes have the much better contrast markings. It's doubtful that there are still any Rev. A models on the market. There are still some Rev. C models available, notably in the Americas. If you buy one of those, you won't know what colours you're getting until you unbox the unit. If you buy a G2 (Rev. D) then you're sure to get the better colour scheme. Amazon.co.uk still have some listings with the Rev. A model number NW280AA, so maybe! One of the listings offers a selection between "HP Prime" (NW280AA) and "HP Prime -New Model - International Pack" (G8X92AAB1S). There is a separate listing for the HP Prime G2 but about £15 to £20 more than the others (perhaps to try and shift the older models). I wouldn’t be too sure at all, I picked up a very very cheap (brand new and boxed) Hp50g six months ago , and it turned out to be old stock that had a free 1GB MP3 player in the blister pack. (I know it was old stock because I bought the very same version several years previous to this recent one!) The MP3 player is truly ancient compared to modern variants. The 1GB is a dead giveaway to its age. Some stockists just stock a SKU and pay little attention to which version it is, it might have also changed retail hands several times before you buy it. The last G1s produced had the higher-contrast keyboards but many vendors still have unsold earlier models with the lower-contrast keyboards. Unless you are dealing with a knowledgeable vendor, it's a crap shoot as to which keyboard you'll get. Newer data sheets will list more flash and RAM, but from HPs perspective they are basically the same thing. Just one is a bit newer and has slightly tweaked internals. RE: How to tell if a Prime is version G1 or G2? - cyrille de brébisson - 03-17-2020 07:29 AM Hello I find that the easiest way to know which version it is is to reboot it. The G1 has an animation with the HP logo, a cartesian plan and the x²+y²=1 equation. The G2 has only the HP logo. Do you guys know options where can I buy the real G2 one by internet ? Guys HP have just created a messy situation where we can find 4 different models in the market with a tiny difference between them , a perfect scene for bad vendors make money.
