Jerry Merryman, the man who helped invent the hand-held calculator, has died - Namir - 05-03-2019 09:01 AM Jerry Merryman, the man who helped invent the hand-held calculator, has died. Merryman worked for Texas Instruments and was part of the calculator-team that produced a calculator prototype in 1967. The teacm also included Jack Kilby who would win the Nobel Prize decades later for his efforts. I must say that I don't know of any HP calculator employee who won a Nobel Prize.
