15C: is there errata for HP-15C Advanced Functions Handbook - cdmackay - 05-31-2019 01:33 AM

hi all,

In the proceedings for the HHC 2018 conference, there's a great presentation by Felix Gross & David
Hayden called Recreating the 15C Advanced Functions Handbook.

On their final slide it says: "Errata on the thumbdrive" (p349 of 2018.pdf).

Although the manual itself is included in the proceedings, I can't find any sign of the the above errata there, nor does it appear to be in the Museum V8 doc set.

Would anyone know if it's available anywhere, please?

Thanks for taking an interest in the HP-15 LE project.

The errata were intended for the Owner's Handbook, not the Advanced Functions Handbook (AFH), so the slide is not correct in that respect. The errata for the Owner's Handbook is attached.

I did not receive errors found in the AFH. Of course that does not mean that are aren't any.

Please forward any errors for the AFH you find and will set up an errata list and see that will be stored in the Article page of the museum, as was the Owner's Manual errata.

Felix

Looks like a very worthy inclusion on the PPC Archive DVD :-)

thank you very much indeed, Felix. Great piece of work, both manuals Smile

And also thanks Jake for the archive (whence I got the HHC proceedings).

one minor point, Felix,

I did check the museum, before posting, and didn't find any sign of any errata for the 15C; would you mind please pointing me to the right page?

Much more than I thought, though many are typos and other minor nits.

argh! I was looking at the Museum doc set. Perhaps there could be a link added there, or something?

thanks Bob Smile

hi Felix,

Not being cheeky, but may I report an erratum for the errata? Smile

4. Page 34: Last line in the last paragraph. It should be one Roll-up and one Roll-down, not two Roll-ups.

I believe that not two Roll-ups should be not two Roll-downs.

Also, given the ordering in the following figure, it might be better to change should be one Roll-up and one Roll-down to should be one Roll-down and one Roll-up.

On the same note, the OH itself has them reversed earlier in the same paragraph. i.e. roll the contents of the stack registers up or down one register perhaps should be instead roll the contents of the stack registers down or up one register

thanks very much.

Thanks a lot for checking carefully. As Dave and myself found out, nitpicking is the core of proofreading. Both manuals are typographical complex, making this a challenge. All help is welcome.

Item no. 4 was corrected.

I left the other text unchanged as I did not want to change the original text. Factually, you are of course correct.

I have added a new version of the Errata list.

Felix
