Are there any password locking routines for the 41/71/48?

HP-71 keyword LOCK

Short reply: Yes.

Currently I don't have pointers to HP-41 / HP-71 locking mechanism (maybe on the SWAP disks) , but for the HP 48 various protection programs can be found on http://www.hpcalc.org .

Don't leave it lying around? Chain it to your desk a la PC with security cable? Take out the batteries?
