WP-34s bit 0 - Tugdual - 05-14-2014 05:55 AM

Why bit 0 is actually #1 in the 34s (referring to bit wise operations)?

Edit: seems to be misleading manual p56
Generally, bits are counted from right to left, starting with number 1 for the least significant bit.
In reality SB00 sets bit zero which is expected behavior.

Thanks for reporting. Nevertheless, this documentation error is known - please see the errata sheet here (as published on this forum on the 13th of January).

Well done Walter, why I'm not surprised you already knew and fixed it :-) ?
This being said, any reason why you would like to keep both an outdated user guide and and errata document? I mean, is it a big deal to fix the original PDF?

RE: WP-34s bit 0 - walter b - 05-14-2014 09:26 PM

You may have noticed the errata refer to v3.2 of the manual. V3.3 will be published soon (as announced in another thread) including those errors corrected. I don't care much about v3.1 anymore - it's history.

Walter, sometime you should consider failing to look a bit more human ;-)
Gonna jump on v3.3 thanks for mentioning this. Not sure why I was using an old version... probably because it was a collector one, the one with an error from Walter!

Walter: Does this mean that you may be releasing the 3.2 manual as the new on-line PDF version, after
you make back enough of your development costs by selling the 3.3 version of the manual?

Or maybe as an extra incentive, you could email a copy of the 3.2 pdf manual to everyone who buys the 3.3 hard copy spiral bound
manual. Any thoughts?

Oooh - you noticed? I try hard, you know, but the circuit up left in my chestbox bothers me ... Wink

This would be a very nice bonus (and incentive to buy!) for those who do purchase the hard copy; they get the best of both worlds.

Obviously there would be a stringent requirement for those recipients to not share the PDF copy. One incentive would be to put the owners name into the PDF, thus discouraging sharing. Eric has done this with books he has sold via PDF; I'm sure there is some easy way to do this; I know you can add attributes using Acrobat, etc. but some 'permanent' method is of course preferred.

Walter?

RE: WP-34s bit 0 - Tugdual - 05-15-2014 03:51 PM

BTW, may be a missed a part of the whole history but where is the link of the PDF v3.3? I mean only 3.1 and 3.2 seem to be referenced on sourceforge? Or is the v3.3 only for paper print?

Currently the 3.1 manual is available for download as a pdf. The 3.2 manual is currently only available as a printed paperback manual. The 3.3 manual WILL BE available as a printed spiral bound manual sometime in the near future. If you want one, better reserve your copy now by posting to this link http://www.hpmuseum.org/forum/thread-1120.html

Hope this clears up any confusion on manuals.

Sincerely, Barry Mead

It is included with the emulator.

On my emulator, manual v2.2 opens when I press "help".

Hmmm thanks for your productive input Walter.
May be you could clarify the whole situation about versions (when you're finished with troll abuse)?
Just an idea...

Walter?

Interesting. Personalized PDFs. I learn something new here in regular intervals. Will think about it.

Bonne nuit Rémy,

You don't want to tell me I'm abusing trolls, do you? How can we know what you mean as long as we can only read what you wrote? Confused

And BTW, how about learning to operate <Quote> instead of <New Reply> ? It would ease allocating your posts significantly. You see, I believe in your abilities.

Oh thank you for that Walter but if you saw my German you would probably change your mind.
This being said, the only ability I'm developing at the moment is how to live without 34S user guide version 3.3... Oh Lord...

Hmmh, must be a bad feeling - but should be no reason to worship me Big Grin Wink

WP 34S spiral bound Owner's Manual will come, and it won't take until judgement day. Posting is just so much easier than making books ... (you may ask Geoff, BTW Wink ).

Meaning that there won't be PDFs versions of the v3.3 and paper version will be the only one version?
