HP 41CX new trick (at least to me) - Visu - 05-27-2014 02:52 PM

Just by pure coincidence, I found a quick sequence key that turned the clock on on my 41CX.

shift / ON

Undocumented to my knowledge but I may have not RTFM properly 3 decades ago...

It's on page 238 "Turning the Clock On"
However, having plugged in the "NoV-64" this doesn't work. What gives?

In the August 1983 edition of the 41CX Manual Volume 1 (Basic Operation), Section 6 ("The Time Functions"), page 61:

Under "The Clock":

Subheading is "Displaying the Clock ([shift] ON, [CLOCK])"

Definitely a lack of RTFM issue Smile

Now, being honest, who owns a 41CX and did NOT know the trick ? Wink

I don't own a HP-41CX, however I do have a Time Module. On page 16 of the Time Module Owner's Manual (a rather impressive 89 page document), it states:

Displaying the Clock: SHIFT [ON]

Hey I didn't know. But now I have to figure out how to set the correct time.
I have 2 97's, 2 41cx's, 2 32s's, 1 11c, 1 35s, 1 35 on it's way and another 32s on its way. Sold a 28c and a 48 with a bad screen. Calcaholic What?

Hi,

I've got the NoV-64 plugged in a CX and the SHIFT+ON shows the clock as it should.

Are there any detais on your NoV-64 configuration that may conflict with the TIMER funtions?

Diego.

Tnanks Diego,

Good to know it does work. I'll investigate further. But will need some time due to other activities.

And for best results, ASN SETIME to a key, turn on USER mode, and use that to set the time on the precise instant. Then clear the assignment, before you forget, and use CORRECT thereafter to set the accuracy factor.

Now 'that' is what I call a useful trick! Thanks Les!
