That's only true if you never bring a USB thumb drive from another machine and plug it into it. If the other machine is infected, then yours will be, too. Also, if it's on a WiFi network that's connected to the internet then it can get infected even if it never connects to the internet itself.

That may be the case, but IMHO it was and still is the best OS that Microsoft ever released. <snip>

I agree and keep two XP boxes running still here. One is an old Frankin-HP made up of 2 others someone was throwing out (tape still holds the front cover on nicely). Smile

Some of my older guitar gear uses midi and XP has been the most compatible for the older stuff.

I have Free42 for the phone but never thought about the XP version (usually just grabbed a physical calc). The internet way back machine is a way to get the older version.

Thanks to the OP for putting it on my radar.
Bill

Hi Michael,

I found a copy using the Internet Way Back Machine. It archives web sites and I got a one that way by going back in time.

I really like Free42. Being a 15c/11c user for decades those new 42s are quite nice. Smile

Thank you for the offer!
Bill

I tried there but it didn't get me any newer version than 2.0.14. At least I found 2.5.16 on https://free42-hp-42s-calculator-simulator.en.uptodown.com/windows

You can get 2.5.17 from Eric Rechlin (http://www.hpcalc.org) if you set up an account.

I used this one that listed 2.5.17 for Windoze.

April 07, 2020 snapshot. I haven't had the chance to run it yet as I am battling with a El Cheapo Prolific clone usb flash cable that is a mighty POS. Tongue

When I get home from work I will try that out.
