Since this is a forum dedicated to HP Calculators this may not be the best place to ask about plotters, perhaps a better place to ask would be the VintHPcom group on groups.io, and I would suggest that when you are asking for help, you indicate what it is you need assistance with.

Paul.

I wouldn't say wasted. Like Edison's , "I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work.", you've found what doesn't work.

Do you have the HPIB/GPIB or centronics/RS232 version, the HPIB/GPIB version cannot be operated from the RS232 port.
The centronics one can be operated from the RS232 port, BUT did you set the dipswitches in the right order.

What exactly did you try and what went wrong.
What interface on the computer was used and was the interface properly configured.
Does the interface work with other peripherals (which ones).
From what software do you try to access the plotter, does the software talk HPGL in the right format.
Did you read the manual ? http://www.hpmuseum.net/collection_document.php

Most people here are technical (and old) enough to understand HP plotters but you have to provide a little more info.

You also make sure that you have a real USB to Rs-232 adapter and not USB to TTL Serial. Or heaven forbid, an Arduino or other MCU as an adapter.

Thanks!
"Do you have the HPIB/GPIB or centronics/RS232 version, the HPIB/GPIB version cannot be operated from the RS232 port."
How to know which I have?

"The centronics one can be operated from the RS232 port, BUT did you set the dipswitches in the right order."
I don't see any dipswitches.
Where are they at?

The HP ProOffice PC that I'm hooked up to has an onboard serial port.
I have been using a HP 7540A with no issues using Corel Draw 12.

Attached is a pic of the inputs of the 7550B
