WP34S - 3.3/3384 IR/Crystal Issue - TomC - 06-23-2020 12:35 PM I have a WP34S/3.3/3384, IR/Xtal. A couple of issues: SETDATE responds Incorrect Format. Is the expected input format the same as DATE outputs? If I take the output from DATE and use it as input for SETDATE, I get the error message or shutdown. Some(most of the)times the SETDATE command completely resets the machine - blanking out, then ON responds with RESTORED. Is there a manner (CRC or other) to test the state of the flash memory? I will reflash it to the latest- but I thought that this may be of interest/concern to others. Regards, TomC RE: WP34S - 3.3/3384 IR/Crystal Issue - rprosperi - 06-23-2020 06:33 PM I believe the SETDAT command wants the input to be in the same format as the current display format. Possibly you have dd.mmyyyy set for display, but you're entering the new date in mm.ddyyyy format (or vice-versa) and a month of 22 or 23 won't work, although the manual indicates this error message should be "bad time or date". RE: WP34S - 3.3/3384 IR/Crystal Issue - TomC - 06-23-2020 06:49 PM Thanks Bob: The machine is in its default/initial state. I did find that setting the date to 6.012020 (June 1, 2020) does work, and DATE returns it in this format. HOWEVER: 6.232020 (June 23, 2020 (todays date)) yields an error message. Perhaps this is fixed in the next flash which I will pursue if necessary. No error. I thought I was using the latest build but yours is obviously a later one. Would you please post the latest version's URL or directions so that I can navigate to it on my own? I know that may seem simple but I'm working on a Mac running Linux in a VM and things aren't that simple for me. Also I'm using calc_xtal_full.bin if that matters. That's a typical sign of weak batteries. Replace 'em. RE: WP34S - 3.3/3384 IR/Crystal Issue - TomC - 06-23-2020 07:22 PM Hi John: Yes, thank you for that - I did notice the batteries were low and did replace them. The subject machine is using 3.2P3375 full ir (I flashed it a couple years ago). I will reflash if necessary, but it would be interesting if you would verify. I am not sure how precisely to navigate to it - if I find it, I will let you know. (I would like to have a simple method to navigate to any/all past versions). RE: WP34S - 3.3/3384 IR/Crystal Issue - John Galt - 06-23-2020 08:29 PM Hi Tom, I did a bit of sleuthing for you. I flashed version 3.3 / 3910 which is what I got from here: https://sourceforge.net/p/wp34s/code/HEAD/tree/trunk/realbuild/calc_xtal_full.bin VERS shows 34S 3.3T 3910 I think that's the latest version, but please correct me if I'm wrong. 6.232020 SETDAT works fine, no errors, and DATE returns Tuesday 6.232020 This is using the default / initial state after flashing. I did not SETUSA or anything else. Unfortunately I can't fully duplicate your test conditions because I do not have a calc with the IR interface (or Harald's board for that matter). I'm sure there's a way to do it but I just haven't invested enough time navigating the Sourceforge repository. |
