50g screen issue - franz.b - 10-18-2020 03:42 PM do you think it can be repaired? Could it be the deteriorated rubber thickness as for the 48s-g and 49g series? or does the 50g not suffer from that problem? thanks RE: 50g screen issue - Massimo Gnerucci - 10-18-2020 05:51 PM (10-18-2020 03:42 PM)franz.b Wrote: do you think it can be repaired? I think it can be repaired. Maybe it is some cable disconnected and/or had the 4 superior lines damaged. (Who knows?) It is a frequent problem also with monitors and TVs. Have you already contacted HP support in your country? I saw in your data that you are form Italy, aren't you? From a manual I got these numbers: +972-(0)-9-8304848 +39 (0) 848-800-871 HP has as policy keep your old product and send you a new one. And of course charge for it, giving you a discount. For me, they already gave up to 60% discount. It was a scanner. Good luck! (10-18-2020 03:42 PM)franz.b Wrote: do you think it can be repaired? I saw it, yesterday. I thought you already got a deal with them to buy it, so they anted the bid to an unreasonable amount to scare others (or get much more from them!) RE: 50g screen issue - Martin Hepperle - 09-17-2021 01:55 PM I have a 50g which would not start when ON was pressed - only a short blink of the screen was visible. When pressing down in the area between screen and keyboard it worked. HP 48 users know this phenomenon quite well ... The HP50g can be opened with relative ease (knowing that you have to remove the clear plastic display cover with a suction cup to remove two screws). I placed a strip of self adhesive rubber foam (about 10 mm wide and 2 mm thick) across the back plate so that it exerts some mild pressure on the flexprint display cable. The back plate already has a narrow bar or ridge across, and obviously over the years this may flex a bit so that some pressure is lost. This fixed the problem of missing columns and the switch on failure for me. RE: 50g screen issue - franz.b - 09-21-2021 07:13 AM bye! I purchased the specimen I was talking about with the missing line and I'll try to open it and check the contacts. The seller also gave me another 50g with a defect in the screen for an unmissable price, it has faded lines (or others too dark) and slightly flashing. it is not a disabling defect, with the right contrast it is invisible, but I wonder if it can be repaired by always acting on the contacts. I enclose the photos, the first with the display set to high contrast, the latter with low contrast. |
