[FRAM71B] 3rd Batch SOLD OUT - Hans Brueggemann - 11-07-2020 05:01 PM after struggling the last two years to get my new flat up and running, i'm finally able to process a 3rd batch of FRAM71B. conponent acquisition is finally done, and i'm currently negotiating the production run with an EMS. the 3rd batch of FRAM71B will have exactly the same functionality as the previous one. there will be an ample amount available, so no need to rush and try to pre-order. pricing will be same as before, as i was able to cut the cost down to compensate for the (insane) price increase of the FRAM memory. however, the amount of 512kB extenders will be pretty much limited because of the extra manual labour envolved to assemble the connectors. hence, i've decided to release all design files for the extender (pcb data plus BOM and assembly instructions) to the public, i.e., here in the forum. pcb data will be in a zipped format that allow direct order at JLCPCB. i hope that this will enable everybody, who is not suffering the "2 left hands" syndrome, to assemble a 512kB extender to update his/her previously acquired FRAM71B. due to the current covid situation, it is not possible to give a definite timeline, but i'm pretty confident that the production run will commence no later than Q1 2021. as pointed out already, there is no need to rush right now. in fact, i will also be contacting all folks that approached me via email during the last two years. i will be updating the process in this thread in the following months, so stay tuned for further info. Update 2021-03-05 after having served the entire backlog from 2017 onwards and many new interests, this is now the time to inform you that the 3rd batch of FRAM71Bs is finally sold out. of course, technical support will not end at this point. if you need help (be it on the FRAMB71B or on the -512 DIY extender), don't hesitate to drop me an email. Update 2021-01-18 all -1024 modules are gone now. Update 2021-01-11 for ordering, there is little to be done from your side, if you have responded to my reservation confirmation already. i will come back to you individually no later than end of january. stay tuned and watch your e-mail inbox. note that at this point in time i'm trying to flatten out the workload on my side, so some of you may not have gotten a reservation confirmation yet. please be patient, i'll be sending out the remaining ones as soon as i have this (insert 4lettered word here) customs paperwork off the table. Update 2021-01-09 all units have successfully passed functional test. as all units had to be fully assembled prior to testing, voting for bezel color is over. (3 W, 22 B) do not order yet. will give info on payment/shipment process end of january. Update 2020-12-12: set up a poll to decide on the color of the front bezel. would you prefer the original (black) look or a white bezel that you can colorize to your likings? [attachment=8934] Update 2020-12-01: updated FRAM71B-EXT_DIY.zip to V03 to clarify required options for ordering the pcb. no change to included gerber files. Update 2020-11-22: added FRAM71B-EXT_DIY.zip for all FRAM71B owners who want to roll their own 512 KB memory extender. in the zip-file, find all necessary board-files with JLCPCB-conforming naming convention, schematics, BOM and photos of assembled unit.
