Can someone explain the HMS function on HP-32S, HP-35S, WP-34S etc? - rallyrabbit - 02-14-2021 02:28 AM Hi all, Can someone explain the HMS (and subsequently the HMS+/HMS-)? I honestly assumed, incorrectly that this was going to work like the old TI-65 where you got a ToD entry in hours (degrees), minutes (minutes tick) seconds, and partial seconds so that you could easily enter in another ToD and perform addition/subtraction operations on them. The reason I ask is that the HP-32/35S seem to make you have to know what the value is in a decimal format. I'm looking for something to allow me to enter a ToD, so that I can enter in a 14 hours, 22 minutes, 13 second type of value, subtract it and give me a new ToD value (or forward) easily. Heck, the WP-34S doesn't even seem to do it? RE: Can someone explain the HMS function on HP-32S, HP-35S, WP-34S etc? - Paul Dale - 02-14-2021 02:45 AM The number is entered HH.MMSSffff where HH is the hours, MM the minutes, SS the seconds and ffff the fractional seconds. Thus, 12.1530 is 12:15:30. The WP 34S can display this better: -> f H.d (converting out of H.MS format) then f H.MS will display 12°15'30.00" For your example: 14 hours, 22 minutes, 13 seconds. Enter 14.2213 then HMS- will do what you want. Pauli |
