Wow, what a deal! TI-55-III - Gene - 06-23-2014 09:36 PM Yes, this is on TAS, but I had to share. Enjoy the humor! TAS RE: Wow, what a deal! TI-55-III - HP67 - 06-24-2014 09:09 AM It's a fair price but you could probably shop around and do a little better RE: Wow, what a deal! They are here (no direct link from this "new" forum!): http://www.hpmuseum.org/rules.htm#add2 But they do not contain the quote of user "hp41cx" above. No do they or did they ever forbid us to call eBay eBay. Regards Max RE: Wow, what a deal! No do they or did they ever forbid us to call eBay eBay. On the main "HP Forums" page, the description of the Classified section includes the following text in the description: "For sale/wanted. Do not post links to ebay or other auction sites in this forum." I suspect the main purpose of this rule is to prohibit someone from posting a link to an eBay auction in order to promote their own sale on that site. However I have sometimes found it informative to have a reference number (not a link) to an eBay auction that is of general interest to the group, either because of the item or the price. I would like to see a clarification on this rule for cases where it is not promoting a sale. RE: Wow, what a deal! Dave just obligated anyone posting an auction to state his/her ebay-name (from memory, I don't have a quote). That worked for some months remarkably well. It was lost over the time, unfortunately. Thomas; I remember the same request from Dave years ago and yes; it got used less and less then lost over time. It was a good rule. It kept people from constantly beating their own ebay drum. I don't see the humor in the auction either, but maybe it was edited before we saw it. Lost decimal point perhaps? RE: Wow, what a deal! Well it was always easy to miss a decimal point with the poor keyboards on the early TI's. RE: Wow, what a deal! Different people see this forum differently. I live now so I care more about things happening now. What will be in years to come we shall see then. Certainly some clever person will find a way to hook-up an HP-41 to the internet server of this forum that will then filter out eBay threads older than 10 years from the search results. |
