Prime Benchmark Champ - toml_12953 - 09-02-2021 08:41 PM

I just ran the

Thimet Calculator Performance Index

benchmark on the TI nspire CX II CAS with OS 5.3.2.129.

Wow! The Prime G2 gets an index of 170426 while the TI gets 46384. Both calculators are running Python. Prime is quite a bit faster than the TI which really is no surprise but I didn't expect quite that big a gap.

To me that only shows how good or bad Python is implemented on these calculators. It is not their native programming environment. For comparison it would be interesting to see that same benchmark performed using both calculator's own programming language.

On Prime Python is written in native ARM code whereas HPPL is written in an intermediate language and is a lot slower.
