HP82143A Rollers - Neve - 09-14-2021 08:16 PM Hi, The 82143A I got today for 35€ Including the original manual, and a brand new pack of 6 rolls (blue), has roller problems. Pretty much like what the card-readers are plagued with. But instead of going gummy and sticky, they just flake off and break. I’ve opened it up and cleaned everything. It’s not gonna be easy to remove the axe and find new rollers for it. Has anyone had the same problem before? It’s a first for me. The rollers broke off completely from the shaft and the pieces transformed into dust inside the machine. I've took several pictures, and have organized them in order with some comments in the attached .pdf file. The results were great for me. Best regards. One of them is ok, but the other one is just a pile of dust. I’m gonna try to use slightly larger O rings than the ones I use for the Card Reader. I’ll look at your document. I was also thinking the O-rings might be a little too thick.. I have the ones that fit the Card-Readers, and the size just above. I don’t know the dimensions though. Actually my first try at it was stretching out the o-rings from an HP67 repair kit I had laying around, but did not get reliable results. The ones I used in the final repair (4.47 ID x1.78 Th)mm are a little larger than those for the 67 and now the printer runs perfectly. Best regards. But it kind of a pain to do because mine is a bit different inside than yours. The head doesn’t tilt back because of an extra tab on the back.. I forgot to put a dab of C.A glue, but it still works just fine. One of the original rings was ok-ish. So I measured it with calipers. I filed down the ends of the axe a bit to have pretty much the same overall diameter with the O-Rings on. It’s still a tad larger (+.06mm), but it’s fine. It makes a bit of a rubbing noise because of the extra pressure, but that’s ok. RE: HP82143A Rollers - cesarb94 - 09-17-2021 11:38 PM Thanks for the feedback Neve. About the mechanism differences, what is the SN on yours? I have a 2105S and a 1954A, and despite some housing and assembly differences, both have the same print mechanism, shown in the pictures. The main differences are: The white spiky wheel that I see on your document is different on mine. It’s black, and the blades are not at a 90 degree angle, they are up straight. Also, the black hard plastic that holds the actual printing head has sort of a long tailpiece at the bottom that almost immediately hits the ledge of the assembly when you try to tilt it back to remove the axe with the rollers. If you try to force it, it’ll probably break. This makes it harder to remove the axe. Let alone putting it back. I had to carefully tweak it sideways and squeeze it in behind the head holder. The extra thickness provided by the newly installed O-rings added to the difficulty. But I finally managed to do it. Tilting back the head holder would have been much easier and straightforward, had I been able to do it that way. See picture. Maybe it’ll be clearer. |
