82143A / 82162A broken battery terminal replacement - dmh - 09-20-2021 11:58 AM

Has anyone worked out a suitable battery terminal replacement for these printers?

I have one with the terminal snapped off flush with the case inside the battery housing.

I've searched here but haven't been able to find this covered previously.

Thanks, dmh

Had that problem today with a battery contact from an HP-97.
Why don't build your own? 0.20 - 0.25mm thick brass will do the job.

(Sorry 2nd picture was taken when I was in a hurry.)

I just bought some brass shim stock locally (at a non-HomeDepot!). I have a probably 5-lifetime supply, so would be happy to send snippets to those who need them. I'll cover postage in the US, but might like help for further away.

A similar contact is used in the Classic series. I saw a replacement where a wire lead was soldered to a battery spring (like the 48 series have) and the spring was hot glued in the correct place in the battery cavity to make the contact. Mind you it was for one of the contacts, not pretty but it worked.

Edit: The spring connector is the spring type like you would see in a HP41 battery holder - but a single spring)
