Free for pickup HP-9862A plotter - abalasa - 11-09-2021 03:46 AM

I have recently become the owner of a large number of HP items, among them a plotter 9862A. I have no data cable for it, the connector is a double sided PCB with 22 contacts on each side, it is not standard parallel nor HPIB. I vaguely remember having a number of years ago a 9825B which had an interface with a connector like that, of course at that time I did not have the plotter.

The original owner told me the plotter was working when removed from use 30 years ago, certainly this does not mean it is working today and I have not powered it up, and I suspect before any power up it will need a serious cleaning. It is not very clean but does not seem to have been abused. The machine is large and I lack any storage for it.

Free for pickup in Naples, FL. Perfect vacation destination, Naples.

I am willing to ship it if the recipient picks up the tab, FedEx and UPS both offer a pack and ship service which is relatively reasonable, the device is too heavy for me to pack safely. If anyone is willing to have it shipped and pick up the cost, I am willing to drop it off at a UPS of FedEx store. I highly recommend use a commercial account for shipping, the cost is lower this way.

Thank you; I really hope someone will pick this up, the alternative is to recycle it because I really have no space for it.

Wow! I have no use for this, but it sure brings back memories! Our high school math department had one when I was a student in ~1970. It seemed remarkable at the time, and I had the chance to do a number of interesting plots!

Please contact me by email if possible, to read private messages I need to log on to the desktop. I prefer to use abalasa@vintagecalc.com but using the forum email is also good.

Now we just need an arrow on the photo pointing to the pickup location of the plotter!

Yeah, sure! But - as you know - the kitchen never closes: there's always something boiling there.
