Bubble LED displays - Ren - 01-13-2022 05:22 PM

I am not shilling these, they might not even be suitable replacements, but I though I would share this,
Nat. Semi Bubble LEDs for $3. (stock is very limited)

Oh how I wish they were end-to-end stackable, like this!

Those things have gone extinct.

Hello!

If you search for "HPDL-1414" you will find lots of suppliers who will happily sell you as many end-to-end stackable 4-digit LED bubble displays as you like :-) "Smart alphanumeric" even! Not as cheap as they used to be, but still starting from under 3$/Euros a piece on Aliexpress.

Regards
Max

One problem with these is that they draw up to 70mA each. At 15 displays, that's over an amp.

I'd lay bets if the bubble LEDs were still available, they would be selling for all sorts of projects.

cheers

Tony

Wow, those things are wide! Broadcom / Avago has serial-input dot-matrix alphanumeric ones that are really small and are end-to-end stackable, but the price is astronomical. They don't have a character generator, so you tell them what dots you want lit, any combination afforded by the matrix.
