HP 82162A printer self test - KevinH - 06-04-2022 07:44 PM

I own an HP 82162A thermal printer which has been unused for many years. I'd like to figure out if it still works and is worth selling however, I no longer own the HP41CV. Any ideas on how to do a test print? Is there any self test feature built into the printer?

Any help or thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Is the battery any good?

Assuming so, when you turn the printer on, does the power light come on and the BAT light stay off? This is normal behavior.

Does the paper advance work? Holding it down should repeat the advance.

There is no self-test which prints out some standard content, similar to that available on other printers, but that said, this printer is fairly reliable and they typically will work well, with properly charged battery (essential) and no history of leaking cells or similar internal damage.
