Disagreeing Integral result - lrdheat - 08-31-2022 05:04 PM In CAS, Integral of 1/(x*sqrt(x+4)) from -4 to infinity produced 0. In home, Error: Invalid Input. On TI Nspire CAS, Infinity, CASIO Classpad also with infinity. The “0” on Prime CAS surprises me. RE: Disagreeing Integral result - parisse - 08-31-2022 05:25 PM The Prime seems correct, if one accepts that the integral near 0- compensates the integral near 0+ (like for 1/x). Undefined is also a valid answer (the integral is divergent at x=0), but the nspire and classpad answer of infinity is wrong. RE: Disagreeing Integral result - lrdheat - 08-31-2022 06:13 PM I was incorrect in my description of the Nspire and Classpad results. They responded with undefined, so those answers were acceptable… |
