In the Function app, when you're looking at the graph of the function in Plot view, tap the screen anywhere near the desired min or max (to place the cursor near it) and then tap Menu (the soft key, not the keyboard key), Fcn, Extremum. The extremum point is displayed, and is available in calculations in the variables X and Y.
