Why not a color hp 50g? - hpmin48gx - 01-29-2023 09:38 PM

Hello group, a question why? If it was so successful and it continues to be until now, the hp 50g left it aside? As I read in some posts, the hp prime does not have the same reception as the hp 50, the programs you find on the internet are not even 5% of what What does the hp 50g have? In my opinion, there could be an improved version with colors and the same programming languages (user, sys, ml) of course, and adding python to it, I think it could be an excellent comeback and it would be of great use to the community that you are already a professional or that you use this tool in your day to day.

I agree with OP, but as said by Bob, it won't happen.

As discussed elsewhere, non-educational use of calculators does not seem to warrant new developments at the time. While not as good at any special task, the ubiquity of mobile phones and tablets seems to have shrunk the market for affordable specialised devices to a point where development is no longer viable. Calculators are better at calculating than tablets with calculator apps but to 99% of users the latter seem to be good enough to forego carrying a calculator plus a smartphone.

While this might be sad for tech-oriented people, mediocrity in a broad field wins over specialisation on the long run (exhibit A: homo sapiens).

People value economy over quality.

NewRPL supports color and touchscreen operations on the Prime G1. It is still under development and there are some differences compared to "old RPL" but it seems to be the best bet at the moment.

Why not the 48xx that was expected over 20 years ago?
Users were greeted with an abomination, an insult in the 49.
HP was never the same from then.
