Yokogawa Hewlett Packard ? - John Garza (3665) - 03-01-2023 11:30 PM https://www.hpmuseum.net/divisions.php?did=39 Evidently they 'collaborated' on calculators too. I guess since they were not owned by HP at the time in the 70's (only 49% ownership) you get YHP badged calculators instead of the usual HP. -J [attachment=11817] RE: Yokogawa Hewlett Packard ? - cortopar - 03-01-2023 11:43 PM I wonder whether the collaboration was on design/manufacturing, or just a joint venture for Asia distribution. RE: Yokogawa Hewlett Packard ? - brouhaha - 03-02-2023 04:38 AM HP's ownership changed to 75% in 1983, and in 1999 they paid $491 million to buy out Yokogawa's 25% stake. http://www.hp.com/hpinfo/abouthp/histnfacts/publications/measure/pdf/1963_10.pdf https://www.laboratorynetwork.com/doc/hp-gains-complete-ownership-of-japanese-subsi-0001 https://www.nytimes.com/1999/07/08/business/company-news-hewlett-packard-to-pay-491-million-to-get-rest-of-unit.html RE: Yokogawa Hewlett Packard ? - John Garza (3665) - 03-02-2023 04:52 AM I wonder what the rarity/value of YHP badged calculators are compared to the usual HP ones? I've seen from a nominal increase ($25-50) to notably more ($200+) paid for the more common YHP-97, but I imagine the seemingly far more rare YHP-67 would command many hundreds more, though as always, rarity's value is in the eye of the buyer. If not mistaken, I think they also re-branded HP-55 as well as some Woodstocks, but I'd guess only the 29C. Anyone have a compete model list? RE: Yokogawa Hewlett Packard ? - AndiGer - 03-02-2023 04:48 PM Inspired from Jurgen Keller's site - remembered he mentioned he was lucky to catch one (site in German) https://calc.fjk.ch/yhp-21-ein-besonderer-fang/ I went to Dentaku museum. Link on Jurgen's site is outdated. http://www.dentaku-museum.com/calc/calc/51-hp/hp/hp.html There in the lower third of the page you find interesting info in YHP. Not for any model is clear it was only marketed by YHP (including the Japanese manual) or also labeled YHP. Andi RE: Yokogawa Hewlett Packard ? - Didier Lachieze - 03-02-2023 07:00 PM The first HP calculator re-branded for YHP was the HP-35.
