Doing a routine battery inspection found a small amount of leakage from a AAA in my later 50G. Cleaned it all out, replaced the batteries, but nothing. Took all batteries out and replaced even the memory battery, still nothing. Tried the paper clip in the back. I think that there's a key sequence?

Might be worth trying with USB power?

a few things to try below; however, these normally only work when the calculator is already on; try with USB attached too (and the pin reset).

On+F3 warmstart reboot, (mostly) non-destructive
On+F6 extended tests

destructive:
On+F1+F6 (immediate release): RAM Recovery/Clear; NOTE clears port 0 Home

Tried all your alternatives but no luck, even with USB. I will mess around a bit with it yet and try a few things. Thanks for the information.

Close the negative and positive contacts with a paper clip or coin for a couple of seconds with the batteries pulled out.

Did you try that? Whereas in step 1 it (obviously) should be F6 instead of F3.

Edit: As I read pressing the reset button at the back with a paper clip for a longer time could lead to the same options. Maybe?

I scraped at it again and gave it one last super hard, super long reset through the hole in the back and it coughed and came back to life. It seems to have recovered. Everything in memory is gone, but no biggie and flag 117 is set again. Many thanks for all the suggestions.

If you haven't already tried it, suggest deoxit on the corroded contact areas.

Excellent! glad to hear it's recovered.

If you don't have Deoxit, you can try lemon juice, followed by distilled water. Doesn't take much.
