HP Thermal Printer Paper Advance Repair - Hiwi - 08-14-2023 09:42 AM

Hi all,
some years ago I got many NOS paper advance rollers for the repair of the HP-41 thermal printers from a former HP dealer here in Hamburg/Germany.

But they are not usable anymore because the gum is destroyed as well.

So i decided to use as an alternative silicone tube. I did this reapair successfully now for more than 15 printers. This covers the HP82143, the HP82166 and the HP-97.

Many HP power users are repairing cardreaders theirself but are afraid of repairing the printer.

But it is basically the same thing and not a rocket science.

I made a brief descpiption of the things to do.

May be this will help others.
See attached PDF.

Excellent - maybe the document should be copied or moved to the "Articles" Forum section?

Nicely done. One tip for cutting a thin section of tubing it to push tubing onto a wooden or plastic dowel rod first.

I used a small drill press with a drill of the right size inside the tubing and used a blade against the rotating side of the tube. It takes a bit more time but produces a nice result. Some pictures on page 41 of my Classic Notes.

cheers

Tony

Great suggestion, I'll move it there now (but of course if you're reading this, you knew that).

Thanks Martin!
