Facebook calculator group(s) that do not discriminate against the 9815? - John Ioannidis - 04-27-2024 06:46 PM There are two or three Facebook groups about HP calculators. They have 2-5k users, closed membership. I had joined them a few months ago, asked if there were any other 9815 users, and the moderators unceremoniously removed my posts with no explanation. I really don't understand what their problem is, the 9815 is a lot closer to, say, the 97S than the other (another unrequited love of mine ). 1. Is anyone else in the world still using their 9815? I wonder how many of them lie, lonely and forgotten, in some dark, dusty storage room at labs around the world (I do, on occasion, for sentimental reasons, but I cannot keep it on all the time, it's noisy and power-hungry and I don't know how much longer the fans will last anyway). 2. Is anyone else here a member of any FB group that does not discriminate against the 9815? If you can communicate with the moderators, who were not in any way reachable from within the group, can you ask them please what their problem was? Thanks /ji RE: Facebook calculator group(s) that do not discriminate against the 9815? - Eric Rechlin - 04-27-2024 07:49 PM Why not just discuss it here? The 9815 is definitely topical on this site. Stay away from Facebook. As you admitted, the groups are closed, which means they aren't archived and could be lost at any point and are difficult to search. It's best to keep all HP calculator discussion on a public site like this one. RE: Facebook calculator group(s) that do not discriminate against the 9815? - DA74254 - 04-28-2024 06:25 PM I am in a couple of groups. Found that they're a bit "snotty", so I'm just "lurking" there. Anyway, you woke up my curiousity; what is a 9815? Any pictures, or perhaps a YT feature of it? RE: Facebook calculator group(s) that do not discriminate against the 9815? - John Garza (3665) - 06-14-2024 01:10 AM Yes, I tend to avoid the 'social media' mainly because of poor security, privacy, and their crass consumerist nature. They seem to be more suited to 'the masses' and their topics, not so much for niche areas. Yes I have a 9815, Spent a weekend making new tapes for it (plastic bands). It's very fast, but I dislike having to use the noisy printer to see the program. -J |
